Enthiran ("Robot") may be the greatest movie ever made about a singing, dancing and fighting andro-humanoid. It's definitely the most expensive Asian movie ever made, at least according to the Hindustan Times.

The sci-fi flick stars 60-year-old Indian superstar Rajinikanth -- he's the country's highest-paid actor -- as both a scientist and the robot he creates. (He "can memorize an entire telephone directory by just running through the pages"; I'm not making this up.) The robot, called Chitthi, sets out into the world "with some unexpected and mind-blowing consequences," which apparently involves dance numbers, explosions, a gigantic snake made of dozens of robots, and Aishwarya Rai.

But enough of that; watch the trailer for yourself. Enthiran, which is "replete with techno jazz effects," opens worldwide on Oct. 1.
