It was previously reported that among the many film and television projects that have shut down due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, major productions such as The Batman and The Matrix 4 were unaffected and would continue as planned.

Warner Bros. recently announced that production for The Batman will shut down for two weeks due to growing concerns about the virus. Variety reports that the film crew had completed filming at a sound stage in London and was planning location change to Liverpool. It is currently unknown if the brief hiatus will affect the film's scheduled June 2021 release.

No announcements have been made regarding Lana Wachowski's The Matrix 4, and according to Variety's Justin Kroll, it is currently filming at a sound stage in Berlin. Appropriate measures are being taken with regard to health and safety. However, it is worth noting that films from all major studios have been shutting down as the pandemic grows in intensity.

Disney and Netflix, for example, have both shut down production on their various television shows and films while Universal recently shut production for Jurassic World: Dominion, with no announcements regarding when filming is expected to resume.

The COVID-19 virus has thus far infected more than 130,000 people worldwide and resulted in almost 5,000 deaths, according to recent statistics from the World Health Organization.

Directed and co-written by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Jayme Lawson and Peter Sarsgaard. The film is currently scheduled for a June 25, 2021 release.
