RUMOR: The Batman Almost Landed Seth Rogen for Major Villain Role

Matt Reeves' The Batman almost landed two Superbad stars for villainous roles in the Warner Bros. film.

After news broke that talks broke down to bring Jonah Hill in as a villain in The Batman, a new rumor states Seth Rogen was in initial talks to play the Penguin.

Borys Kit, who writes for The Hollywood Reporter, discussed the rumor on Twitter. He added Rogen as Penguin would have been finalized after WB settled on Hill playing Riddler.

In a follow-up tweet, Kit added, "WB trying hard not to get into a Jack Nicholson/Batman situation where they overpay bigtime on the villain," possibly alluding to the price tags attached to bring Rogen and Hill in for The Batman.

Zoe Kravitz joined the film earlier this week, stepping in as the next incarnation of Selina Kyle/Catwoman, with Jeffrey Wright in talks to play Commissioner James Gordon.

Hill's name first became associated with the film in September, when it was reported that he was being eyed for a villainous role. Some reports suggested it was for The Penguin while others said it was for The Riddler. Nevertheless, shortly after those initial reports, it was implied that the actor was holding out over pay issues, as he wanted $10 million -- more than double what Bruce Wayne/Batman star Robert Pattinson was supposedly making.
