A new report suggests fans may see yet another live-action version of The Joker, this time in a followup to Matt Reeves' upcoming DC Extended Universe film The Batman.

According to The Direct, insider Daniel Richtman has learned there are plans for The Joker to appear in The Batman's two sequels. However, he's not expected to appear in The Batman proper, which would make sense as the film is already packed with rogues such as The Penguin and The Riddler.

The lastest live-action portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime was courtesy of Joaquin Phoenix, who played the character in Todd Phillips' Joker. Other versions of the villain who've appeared on the big and small screen in recent years include depictions by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad and Cameron Monaghan on Gotham.

Director Matt Reeves took the reins on a Batman solo film for Warner Bros. following Ben Affleck's departure from the project. Though plans for a trilogy have been confirmed, specific plot points remain under wraps. That said, the first installment is expected to explore the Caped Crusader's early crimefighting career.
