Star Robert Pattinson recently tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), putting The Batman production on hold yet again after it had just started back up. However, it has now been confirmed by Warner Bros. that production on the film continues.

A Warner Bros. studio representative announced, "Following a hiatus for COVID 19 quarantine precautions, filming has now resumed on The Batman in the U.K." Pattinson's current status has not been confirmed and it is unknown if he will be going back to set just yet.

The Batman production was put on hold back in March due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and restarted later in 2020. However, Pattinson's diagnosis came just a few days after production had resumed. Additionally, Warner Bros. head Ann Sarnoff later commented on the situation, saying, "I think we never expected things to go completely smoothly."

It was confirmed during DC FanDome that The Batman won't take place on the "same Earth" as the rest of the DC Extended Universe. The Batman will show Bruce Wayne in his second-year as Batman and is planned to be the first film in a trilogy. Meanwhile, a series based around the Gotham City Police Department, which will take place in the same universe as The Batman, is set to be released through HBO Max.
