Both Peter Sarsgaard and Jayme Lawson were announced for Matt Reeves' The Batman in undisclosed roles, leaving fans guessing which characters they would bring to life in the DC Extended Universe film. Now, those roles have finally been revealed.

Warner Bros. has confirmed Sarsgaard will portray Gotham D.A. Gil Colson and Lawson will play Bella Reál, a candidate running for mayor of Gotham. Neither character seems to have originated from the comics.

Sarsgaard is known for roles in films such as Boys Don't Cry, Jarhead, Year of the Dog, Green Lantern and The Magnificent Seven. Lawson, meanwhile, just made her big-screen debut in Farewell AmorAlex Ferns and Con O'Neil from HBO's Chernobyl were also recently added to The Batman cast as members of the Gotham City Police Department.

Filming on The Batman is currently underway in London, England, as confirmed by director Matt Reeves, though it'll be Glasgow, Scotland that's eventually transformed into the film's version of Gotham.
