Director Matt Reeves has revealed Peter Sarsgaard (Green Lantern, The Magnificient Seven) has joined the cast of his upcoming Warner Bros. film, The Batman.Reeves posted a GIF of Sarsgaard on Twitter revealing the casting, following the same pattern as the casting reveals for Jeffrey Wright and John Turturro.RELATED: The Batman: Every Actor & Character Confirmed For Matt Reeves' Film

Unlike the other castings, Reeves did not reveal who Sarsgaard would be portraying. According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources have the actor "playing a corrupt cop named Wasserman or a district attorney." The latter should catch the attention of longtime Batman fans, with the former district attorney Harvey Dent going on to become the villainous Two-Face.

Billy Dee Williams, Tommy Lee Jones and Aaron Eckhart portrayed Harvey Dent/Two-Face in 1989's Batman, 1995's Batman Forever and 2008's The Dark Knight, respectively, though Williams's Dent never became Two-Face on the big screen.

Last month there were reports that The Batman could lead to several villain-centric spinoff films, with select cast members from The Batman and Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) having options in their contracts to appear in both sequels and solo movies.
