The Riddler, one of Batman's most famous villains, may have claimed his first victim in a recently leaked image from the set of Matt Reeves' The Batman.
The image shared on Reddit shows a person's head wrapped in either plastic or tape, with some sort of message written on it. Though it's unclear what actually happened in the photo, the appearance of a message written on the victim's head gave many commentators Riddler-vibes.
It's also worth noting that the chair in which the victim is placed looks similar to the chair in an earlier photo shared by director Matt Reeves.
In the comics, Edward Nigma/The Riddler is known for teasing Batman and the Gotham Police with various clues and riddles. Created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang, Riddler made his DC debut in 1948's Detective Comics #140.
12 Years a Slave's Paul Dano was announced to be portraying Edward Nigma/The Riddler back in October of last year. Other actors that have portrayed the character in live-action projects include Jim Carrey, Frank Gorshin and Cory Michael Smith.
Dano's Riddler will join other villains set to appear in The Batman, including Colin Farrell's The Penguin and John Turturro's Carmine Falcone.
Directed and co-written by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Jayme Lawson and Peter Sarsgaard. The film arrives June 25, 2021.
