The teaser trailer for The Batman has received an animated update.

TheArt91Lee posted the animated trailer on his YouTube channel, which features stylized 2D animation similar to the artwork found in motion comics. The animation also makes several changes to the design of the film, including giving Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight the blank white eyes that Batman traditionally has in the comics. Other animated flourishes include Commissioner Gordon's eyeglasses fogging over and impact flashes from where Batman strikes an opponent.

The Batman is the latest film adaptation of the Dark Knight mythos. Originally slated to be written and directed by Ben Affleck, Cloverfield director Matt Reeves took over the project and reworked it after Affleck's departure. Filming on The Batman wrapped in March, with the film being pushed back a year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

A Gotham PD television series, which is set during "Year One" of The Batman, is currently in the works for HBO Max. HBO and HBO Max Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys discussed how The Batman and Gotham PD would cross over, saying that there should be a "fluidity" to characters so that they could appear in different mediums.

Directed by Matt Reeves and written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone and Peter Sarsgaard as District Attorney Gil Colson. The film arrives in theaters March 4, 2022.
