Dave Bautista has provided more details on his previous attempt to get DC Films to cast him as the notorious Batman villain Bane.During the "Spotlight on Dave Bautista" segment of Justice Con, the wrestler-turned actor was asked who he would like to play in the DC Extended Universe. "Oh, it would be Bane all day long," he replied. "I've made no secret about this. I want to play Bane so bad I went to Warner Bros., had an appointment with them, had an appointment with DC, walked in the door and said, 'I want to play Bane.' I'm not kidding. Responding to Screen Rant's coverage of his comments on Twitter, Bautista said "I wasn’t joking. But in all honesty they did have a good giggle and show me the exit... at least I gave it a shot. My life seems to be a continuing mission to find an alternative route to get to where I want to be. I’m good with that.."

Rumors of Bautista playing Bane began circulating when he tweeted about a meeting at Warner Bros. Studios in Dec. 2019, saying "It won’t come to you so get after it!!" He subsequently indicated he had auditioned for the role while responding to speculation about his casting in Matt Reeves' The Batman, tweeting "Unfortunately it's not [happening]. Tried my best."
