Actor Rob McClure casually revealed Colin Farrell's villainous turn as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin in The Batman will involve prosthetics.

"They've done an amazing job, though," McClure said on Stars in the House, a streamed series hosted by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, while discussing the prosthetic work he underwent to play Daniel Hillard/Mrs. Doubtfire on Broadway. "When I went into a place to get the process you just saw, I walked in and they were like, 'Oh, hang on, we just have to clear off this table.' And they were building the Penguin prosthetics for Colin Farrell in the new Batman movie, and I was like, 'Oh, I'm in the right place.'"

It is unclear how, exactly, the prosthetics will shape Farrell's portrayal of The Penguin. However, it should be noted that the last live-action cinematic depiction of Penguin, by Danny DeVito in 1992's Batman Returns, involved a nose-lip-and-brow prosthetic.

Farrell's Penguin will not be the only member of Batman's iconic rogues gallery in the film. Although details on the movie's plot are still scarce, it is known that Catwoman, The Riddler and Carmine Falcone will also appear.

Directed and co-written by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Jayme Lawson and Peter Sarsgaard. The film arrives in theaters Oct. 1, 2021.
