Colin Farrell discussed his upcoming role as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin in Matt Reeves' The Batman, offering words of praise for the film's script.

Farrell first mentioned the weight he would have to gain for the role, then gave a bit of insight into forming the character with Reeves. "I’m in the process of talking to Matt Reeves, who’s the director, who wrote the script, and wrote a really beautiful, dark, moving script, really gorgeous," Farrell said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. "It’s all very hush hush, but it’s a really beautiful script that he wrote and he has a real love for it, Matt. So, we’re in the process of finishing designing the aesthetic of the character."

Reeves co-wrote the script for The Batman with Mattson Tomlin, who also wrote and co-produced the upcoming science-fiction film Little Fish.

The Batman won't be the first comic book film Farrell has appeared in, as the actor portrayed the villain Bullseye in 2003's Daredevil. His next film set for release is The Gentlemen, which stars Farrell, Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Hugh Grant and more.
