Warner Bros. released a new trailer for The Batman.

The trailer, titled "The Bat and The Cat," explores the relationship between Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle's alter-egos of Batman and Catwoman. Together, they try to hunt down The Riddler, but there's plenty of tension -- romantic and not-so-romantic -- along the way. The footage also confirms that Riddler does, in fact, know Batman's secret identity.

The Batman takes place during Bruce Wayne's second year as the Dark Knight and exists outside of the main DC Extended Universe. While the film includes such villains as The Riddler, The Penguin and Carmine Falcone, some fans are convinced The Joker will also make a surprise appearance, played by Eternals' Barry Keoghan. Regardless of which members of the Caped Crusader's rogues gallery appear in the film, however, star Robert Pattinson already has plans on where he'd like the franchise to go next.

"I’ve made a kind of map for where Bruce’s psychology would grow over two more movies," Pattinson recently explained while discussing potential sequels. "I would love to do it."

The other half of the Bat/Cat duo, of course, is Zoë Kravitz's Selina Kyle. "I've read some of the comics now, but I wasn't a comic head or anything," the actor said in October. "I also tried to think about [the role] not as Catwoman, but as a woman, how does this make me feel? How are we approaching this and how are we making sure we're not fetishizing or creating a stereotype? I knew it needed to be a real person."

While The Batman isn't set within the DCEU, there's no shortage of Dark Knights on the horizon. November 2022 will see the release of The Flash, which features not one but two Batmen in Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck. The film is expected to explore the DC Multiverse, meaning any Batman -- DCEU or otherwise -- could be considered canon one way or another.

The Batman arrives in theaters March 4, 2022.
