The Batcave set appears to be part of a massive moss-covered mountain. The first official trailer for The Batman showcases Bruce Wayne riding alongside a similar path into the Batcave, which -- in director Matt Reeves' version -- appears to be a cross between a military bunker and a body shop.

The Batman is currently finishing production after halting twice due to matters surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The film has also led to a prequel television series at HBO Max centered on the Gotham City Police Department. However, showrunner Terrence Winter departed the series over creative differences.

Directed by Matt Reeves and written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrel as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone and Peter Sarsgaard as District Attorney Gil Colson. The film arrives in theaters March 4, 2022.
