The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2, Episode 15, "The Summit," and Episode 16, "Plan 99." Both are streaming now on Disney+.

The events of The Bad Batch's Season 1 finale were totally unexpected. Clone Force 99 went to Kamino to rescue Hunter, and although they were able to save him, they couldn't save Tipoca City. Out of nowhere, Vice Admiral Rampart received orders to totally destroy the city. He unleashed an aerial bombardment that wiped out everyone and everything. The Bad Batch only barely survived.

The destruction of Tipoca City was a catastrophic development. It was also a huge departure from Star Wars Legends. In that continuity, Tipoca City was the location of the Kamino Uprising -- a major Clone uprising that was portrayed in Star Wars: Battlefront II. With Kamino out of the picture, Star Wars abandoned the Kamino Uprising plot, but The Bad Batch's Season 2 finale hinted that a new Clone uprising is imminent.

Why Tensions Are High Among Clones

Star Wars The Bad Batch Clones Howzer, Wilco and Mayday

In Legends, the Kamino Uprising was the event that made the Empire decommission Clones in favor of the inferior Stormtroopers. Because that event didn't happen in canon, The Bad Batch showed a new reason for getting rid of Clones. In Episode 8, "Truth and Consequences" Emperor Palpatine showed up to condemn Vice Admiral Rampart for destroying Kamino, but it was all part of an elaborate scheme. Clones had followed Rampart's orders, and that was a sign that they were too loyal for their own good. So, the Empire needed something new: Imperial Stormtroopers.

After that, the back half of the season showed just how quickly Clones fell from grace. When Palpatine decided that Clones had to go, they stopped receiving missions, and there was nothing they could do about it. Some senators argued for severance packages, but it was never enough. Clones were also arrested for minor offenses, and Dr. Hemlock was even using some of them as test subjects in his cloning experiments. The part about Dr. Hemlock wasn't public knowledge. All anyone knew was that Clones kept disappearing. With all of that happening, tensions have clearly been rising.

Mount Tantis Could Be the Sight of a New Clone Uprising

Doctor Hemlock addresses Nala Se in Star Wars: The Bad Batch

The Bad Batch's Season 1 finale debuted Mount Tantiss, and fans assumed that the secret lab would be a prominent location in Season 2. However, that wasn't the case because the secret mountain remained shrouded in mystery. In Episode 15, "The Summit," the Bad Batch was trying to locate Mount Tantiss in a bid to find Crosshair. So, they went to Eriadu, where Tarkin was holding a summit for high-ranking Imperials. The plan was to put a tracking device on Hemlock's ship and follow him to Mount Tantiss, but the whole thing fell apart. And Tech died during their escape attempt.

While Tech's death was tragic, the scenes from the summit were fascinating. One of their conversations was about Dr. Hemlock's cloning initiative, specifically using Clones as test subjects. Some of the officers were fine with the idea, while others feared repercussions if the Senate found out. One of them even wondered whether a Clone rebellion was possible. Hemlock said that small-scale uprisings had already happened, but Tarkin was more definitive. He assured everyone that a widespread rebellion would be dealt with "swiftly and unilaterally."

While Tarkin was speaking generally, his comments felt more like a hint. With tensions rising, it's only a matter of time before the Clones band together against the Empire. When that happens, The Bad Batch will have to find a new location for the uprising (because Kamino is out of the picture). Mount Tantiss would be a perfect location. Omega and Crosshair are trapped there, and Season 3 will be all about the rest of Clone Force 99 finding them. But with so many other Clones imprisoned at Mount Tantiss, it would be the perfect location for an uprising. An uprising won't end well, but it could give them one last hurrah.
