The Avengers, John Carter, G.I Joe: Retaliation: February 16th Comic Reel

"Avengers" SFX Specialist Chris Wells spoke to Starburst Magazine and revealed small details on the opening sequence to Earth's Mightiest Movie.

"We're doing what essentially boils down to the prelude of the movie," Wells told Starburst Magazine. "There's a whole intro that happens before you start even getting the titles and it's pretty big. There's nothing small in this movie. I went to a screening with all the temporary visual effects and it was pretty fleshed out. It's a long movie but it doesn't feel like it. Out of all the comic book movies and franchises I've worked on, this is the best one I've seen so far."

Wells also spoke to director Joss Whedon's take on the film as a whole, noting the director's attention to character. "Joss and I have worked on some projects before and he does a very good job with characters," said Wells. "Since this is the first time that we see these guys together as a unit, he had to address all their personal dealings with one another. I think he did a very good job of setting up the characters based on what we know from the Marvel franchise, integrating them together with all their differences and similarities and then getting on with business. And just when you think the movie is a character piece it just goes nuts."

Directed by Joss Whedon and starring everybody. Opens May 4.

Badass Digest reports a source close to the "Transformers 4" production teased the possible creative direction of the film.

"Michael realized it needs to be more like the last hour [of Dark of the Moon]," the source told Badass Digest. The article put forth the theory of more action and less jokes in the 2014-scheduled film. The rumor is unconfirmed and most of the report is conjecture, but it is entirely possible director Michael Bay might choose to focus more on action rather than humor in the next installment of the "Transformers" franchise.

While speaking with The Huffington Post, Idris Elba revealed he had concerns initially about joining the "Ghost Rider" sequel.

"It was definitely a sort of like a, 'Hm, should I be doing this?' because of the previous film," Elba told the Huffington Post. "But, there was a new take on it and I personally know what I can bring to the table and I just felt that there was something there to work with. So, I believe that the second version of "Ghost Rider" has a completely different DNA. Just a different feeling and tempo -- and I'm part of that. So, hopefully, people will be forgiving."

Opens February 17

MovieFone has posted an interview with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who revealed he chose roadblock from a list sent to him by the studio.

"There were a few actors in the first one who could have played Roadblock," Johnson told MovieFone. "A popular character -- the glue of the G.I. Joes. But I'm sure, creatively, Lorenzo [Di Bonaventura] and the studio had their reasons for leaving it alone. I mean, they have a knack for thinking well ahead for multiple movies. And I'm glad he wasn't touched. They sent me over a list of possible G.I. Joe characters..."

MTV caught up with director Jon Chu at Toy Fair 2012 where the director expounded on one of his goals for the sequel.

"There are a couple things I really wanted to do in this movie," Chu told MTV. "One of those things was reinvent Cobra Commander, to do it the way I remember him and take him to the next level," Chu said. "To me, Cobra is one of the most iconic villains of all time. I just wanted to know that was him. I wanted to make him more badass than ever."
