WARNING: The following article contains major spoilers for The 100 episode "From the Ashes."

The 100 Showrunner Jason Rothenberg helped clarified the absence of actor Bob Morley in the season 7 premiere episode "From the Ashes," hopefully alleviating fan concerns over the lack of Bellamy Blake in promotional material.

In an interview with Collider, Rothenberg explained that Morley personally requested to take some time off this season. The show justifies this via a twist in the episode's opening moments, with Bellamy getting pulled away from Echo and Gabriel by an invisible force toward the mysterious Anomaly. Rothenberg also noted that Morley "was grateful that the studio worked it out, in a way that he could do that." He went on to say, "Narratively, we were able to create a season and craft a story around that, that has all of the twists and turns and the emotional intensity that our story has become known for."

When asked about what's next for Bellamy, Rothenberg stated, "His journey, this season, isn't over, and I think it's one that will surprise people... It's definitely emotional and intense." He then discussed Morley's performance, adding, "Bob bring a level of emotionality to everything he does, that is really something to behold, and this season is no different."

Bellamy's disappearance will drive a number of mysteries about the Anomaly's purpose, which was hinted at last season. Season 6's finale saw Bellamy's sister Octavia pulled into the Anomaly after being stabbed by an adult version of Charmaine Diyoza's daughter Hope. The Season 7 premiere follows this up by having Echo, Gabriel and Hope, who suffers from amnesia, walk into the temporal entity in an attempt to locate the Blake siblings.

The 100 stars Eliza Taylor, Marie Avgeropoulos, Bob Morley, Lindsey Morgan, Richard Harmon, Tasya Teles and Shannon Kook. The series airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
