In a recent interview with CBR, Michael Beach sat down to talk about his various roles including Jesse Kane in Aquaman,  Nathan Ellery on Swamp Thing and Charles Pike on The 100

When it came to The 100, Beach revealed that he had seen a lot of heated discussions from fans surrounding his character. Beach said, "That was one of the more enjoyable characters I've played because even though 99% of the fanbase see him as a bad guy --not just a bad guy, I think he's the most hated character of that show, which is fine, I don't mind --I have a lot of empathy for Pike and what he's been through."

Beach revealed that some of that hate has transferred from fans hating his character to blaming him as an actor. "I've been hated on social media but I don't put much stock in it; I don't argue with people on social media and it's not my job, it's not up to me to determine how people feel about a character that I play."

On the hate his character receives, Beach explained, "[my character] has been compared to Donald Trump or Hitler and you just go '...okay...'" Despite how hated his character is amongst fans, Beach called the opportunity "a great experience."

Particularly, he was grateful for how hard the writers worked to bring that character to life, noting that he was originally supposed to have limited appearances but was brought back because of the intense audience reaction.

The 100 airs on The CW and stars Eliza Taylor, Paige Turco, Marie Avgeropoulos, Bob Morley, Henry Ian Cusick, Lindsey Morgan, Richard Harmon and Tasya Teles. The series will return for its seventh and final season sometime next year.
