Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia is well known for its amazing cast of characters that come in all sorts of variety and powers. Horikoshi's series has gained widespread appreciation for such diversity that is comparable if not often done better than western comic book counterparts.
That appreciation extends to the female characters of the show that have shown powers as powerful (sometimes more than) their male counterparts. Whether villain, Pro Hero, or student, the women of MHA are as strong in character development as they are in quirks. In case you're doubtful, let's take a look at some of the strongest My Hero Academia women.
10 Ibara Shiozaki
Though she's ranked tenth here, there is no reason to underestimate Ibara Shiozaki as those who do are sure to receive a humiliating defeat much like her opponent in the sports tournament arc.
Shiozaki's quirk allows her to use her vine-like hair by growing it out at exponential speeds and using it in various ways. In both the anime and manga we've seen her utilize her quirk creatively in order to hold others captive as well as form protective shields. The versatility of her quirk alone is enough to earn her a place on this list.
9 Midnight
The UA teacher might be most memorable for her rather unique Pro Hero costume which receives criticism both within the anime and the real community, but Midnight possesses a quirk that is powerful enough to quickly render her opponents incapacitated without proper preparation.
Midnight's quirk, Somnambulist, produces an aroma from her body which puts nearby people to sleep. While the quirk is more effective on males, it's been shown to be so powerful that just a small rip in her leotard can release enough of the aroma to spread across the mountain terrain in the final test arc and instantly knock out Sero.
8 Yaoyorozu Momo
One of only four first-years to be admitted to UA through a recommendation, Yaoyorozu possesses a highly versatile quirk which depends on a keen intelligence that she demonstrates time and time again throughout the series.
Her quirk, Creation, allows her to create any non-living object from her fat cells as long as she knows the exact molecular makeup of the object. While the requirements of the quirk might seem too taxing to most, Momo proves herself more than capable of putting it to good use despite that in addition to showing great mastery of her quirk. In this case, it is Momo's genius-level intellect which makes her one of the most powerful women in the series.
7 Setsuna Tokage
Another one the special recommendation students, Setsuna Tokage's quirk and strategic intelligence prove why she is one of the most powerful students in UA as well as women in the MHA universe.
Tokage's quirk, known as Lizard Tail Splitter, allows her to split up her body up to 50 pieces while retaining control over every part. Additionally, upon destruction, those pieces can be regenerated. Such a quirk is very powerful and almost makes Tokage unparalleled in versatility, but regeneration takes a toll on the young hero enough to make her avoid the possibility of having to do it.
6 Himiko Toga
While we don't get to see a lot of Toga given her position as one the villains, what we see of her quickly proves that she is a very capable combatant who possesses a powerful quirk - one that is ultimately dangerous in her hands.
With a transformation skill dependent on her ingesting the blood of her target, Himiko is very proficient with blades and is shown to have great agility in her fighting style. While the quirk in its original state proved to be quite useful, later on in the manga (SPOILER!) she even acquires the ability to use the quirks of those she has transformed to further cementing her position as number 6 on this list.
5 Nejire Hado
Becoming one of UA's Big 3 is no easy feat, and Hado is more than deserving of the title. Though we rarely get to see her use her powers in either the anime or manga, her stats perfectly reflect just how powerful she is.
With the Ultra Analysis Book placing both her power and technique at the A level, it comes as no surprise that she is capable of holding her own with Pro Heroes during her internship. Unfortunately, her power has its drawbacks which range from its slow speed to how it is drawn from her own vitality; all in all, gaining Hado the number 5 spot.
4 Mt. Lady
In the very first episode of the series, we see Mt. Lady make her big debut, and ever since she quickly climbs up the hero rankings to make it to the number 23 spot. Such progress requires both skill and extremely hard work which is why this Pro Hero has earned herself the number 4 spot.
With her quirk, Gigantification, Mt. Lady is capable of growing 19 meters larger. With this enlargement comes corresponding strength which might as well crush her less fortunate opponents. Unfortunately, she can't variate between her two sizes which makes it difficult for her to work in narrow streets and areas.
3 Ryukyu
Fans are first introduced to Ryukyu in the Shie Hassaikai Arc, and she quickly establishes the strength of her quirk during both the fight sequence she is introduced to us through as well as the raid mission.
Ryukyu's strength both in heroic character and quirk usage has earned her a top Pro Hero ranking at number 10. Additionally, the Ultra Analysis book places both her power and intelligence at A level with her speed and technique stats being quite high as well.
2 Mirko
Though we haven't had an opportunity to see Mirko in action during the fourth season's run, the no. 5 has proven herself worthy of her Pro Hero ranking as well as her place on this list within the manga.
To cite the Ultra Analysis Book alone, her power and speed rank as A+, but such stats alone don't do her justice. Mirko possesses overall enhanced physical abilities that overshadow her fellow pro-heroes from an acute hearing that allows her to locate enemies with very minimal noise to her bodily strength, speed, and dexterity.
1 Nana Shimura
While she may not have been as flashy as her successor in her quirk, Nana Shimura possessed great strength and was the villain One For All's rival for the longest time before her ultimate demise.
Gran Torino and All Might both provide testimony of Nana's strength, and what we know of her powers further cements her position as the most powerful woman in MHA. As the previous wielder of All For One, she had much of All Might's powers that stockpiled an enormous amount of raw power. In addition, she possessed her own quirk that allowed her to float. Overall, there's no one more fit for the number one spot than the hero that created the Symbol of Peace.
