Comic books are littered with all sorts of dangerous characters. Both superheroes and supervillains can use their abilities to quite deadly effects. Many of these characters have either dated or had love affairs with one another. Pooling together their great abilities, these power couples prove to be even more effective than each individual was alone.

While many of these couples didn't last for too long, their short stints working alongside one another proved they made deadly combos. Other couples on this list have always been together, creating a deadly cohesion that makes them incredibly strong. Without any further ado, here are the 10 most dangerous couples in comics

10 Daredevil and Elektra

Daredevil and Elektra hold hands in What If?

Matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios met at college. At the time, neither knew just how formidable the other was. Although the two skilled fighters were originally enemies, over the course of their careers they have grown closer together, often working together while having torrid love affairs.

Elektra is one of the most skilled assassins that The Hand has ever employed. Daredevil, trained by Stick of the clandestine ninja group known as the Chaste, is arguably even more skilled. When working together, there are very few enemies they could not take out.

9 Hawkgirl and Hawkman

Shiera and Carter Hall are two of the most powerful heroes in the Justice League. The reincarnated royalty of ancient Egypt, these two are incredibly strong and wield powerful weapons.

The Nth metal that gave the two heroes the ability to resurrect themselves also connected them to one another. Hawkman and Hawkgirl's love is so strong that every time they resurrect, the seek one another out despite having lost the memories of their past. This metal also gave them incredible strength, speed, durability, healing, and flight.

8 Spider-Man and Black Cat

Black Cat is both a skilled thief and hand to hand combatant. Over her history, she has switched back and forth many times between thief, superhero, and a straight-up mob boss. Throughout all of these roles one thing remains the same: her feelings for Spider-Man.

After running into each other on several separate occasions, the two costumed supers began a romantic relationship. Black Cat often served as a very bad influence on Peter, pushing him to make increasingly more morally grey decisions as their relationship went on. Working together, the two could use their combined powers and expertise to quickly (and often quietly) dispatch large groups of enemies with apparent ease.

7 Enchantress and Skurge

Amora the Enchantress and Skurge the Executioner from Marvel Comics

Two of Thor's greatest enemies are also another one of the most dangerous couples in comics. Amora the Enchantress and Skurge the Executioner both pose great threats, albeit in very different ways. Their powers actually compliment each other quite well, combining to make an incredibly dangerous duo.

Amora is a sorceress who can charm and control men. She also has a variety of other magical powers, including energy projection. Skurge is a musclebound brute, hoping to win over the Enchantress' love through his loyal service. Although she never truly loved him, Enchantress often kept Skurge around to help further her own aims, creating quite a dangerous couple.

6 Green Arrow and Black Canary

Oliver Queen, a wealthy businessman, patrols the streets of Star City at night as the Green Arrow. Dinah Drake is often written to come from more humble beginnings, although just like Queen she hopes to use her skills to fight criminals at night. Working together, the two vigilantes are able to stop many powerful supervillains.

While Canary's fighting skills and Canary Cry make her incredibly dangerous up close, Green Arrows marksmanship and many trick arrows make him a deadly long-range threat. Combining their efforts, they can dismantle enemies in a variety of ways.

5 Batman and Catwoman

Batman and Catwoman Kiss in Hush

Marvel's greatest hero, Spider-Man, has Black Cat. DC's greatest hero, Batman, has Catwoman. Longtime burglar Selina Kyle has grown closer and closer to Bruce Wayne over the years. Their many love affairs have proven that the two characters are absolutely meant for one another.

Both fighting with and against Batman has helped turn Catwoman into one of the greatest hand-to-hand fighters in all of Gotham. Nothing needs to be said about Batman; we already know his incredible skill and deadly weapons make him one of the most dangerous heroes ever to appear on a comic book page.

4 Superman and Wonder Woman

While Lois Lane will always be Superman's number one gal, he has had quite a few other romantic interests in his long superhero career. The most prominent of these other love interests is the greatest female superhero of all time: Wonder Woman.

Superman is one of the strongest characters in the DC universe. There are very few individuals who could possibly hope to match his incredible power. One of these few characters is Wonder Woman. Putting two such powerhouses together as a couple makes for quite the crimefighting team.

3 Carnage and Shriek

One sociopathic serial killer with superpowers is bad enough. Two is exponentially worse. When Carnage used his abilities to break out of a maximum-security prison filled with other similarly dangerous killers, he ran into the love of his life: Shriek, a mutant with the ability to harness sound waves into powerful concussive blasts.

These two supervillains have each been on murderous rampages by themselves. Together they create double the mayhem, destroying the lives of every single person in their way.

2 Joker and Harley Quinn

DC Comics' Joker and Harley Quinn

Joker is the most dangerous supervillain of all time Sure, he may not have any powers, but his mastery of mayhem and mass murder is second to none. His kill count is no doubt larger than any other villain on this list and will continue to grow as long as he's alive.

While her more recent popularity has led writers to portray Harley Quinn as a bit of an anti-hero, make no bones about it, she is truly sadistic. Just like her lover and often in hopes of impressing him, Harley Quinn has murdered many innocent people as well.

1 Thanos and Death

The Mad Titan Thanos is the conqueror of many worlds and the killer of many great heroes. His lust for ultimate power knows no bounds. Only one being has a higher death count than Thanos, and that would be the physical embodiment of Death itself.

Obsessed with making Death fall in love with him, Thanos gathered the Infinity Gems and snapped half of all life from existence. Such a proclamation of love proves that Thanos and Death are the most dangerous comic book couple of all time.
