That '70s Show alum Ashton Kutcher revealed Mila Kunis, his wife and former co-star on the sitcom, made sure he wouldn't decline the opportunity to appear on That '90s Show.

In an interview with Esquire, Kutcher said Kunis insisted he should feature on That '90s Show, regardless of the script. According to Kutcher, his wife felt they had no choice because of how much That '70s Show meant to their career trajectories: "[She] goes, 'You know, we owe our entire careers to this show. It doesn't matter what the script is, we're doing it.'"

Kutcher and Kunis reprise their roles from the original sitcom as Kelso and Jackie on That '90s Show, but with a major twist. During That '70s Show, Jackie dated Kelso before finding out about an affair Kelso had with Laurie Forman -- played by the late Lisa Robin Kelly -- causing them to break up, with Jackie later dating their foreign exchange student friend, Fez (Wilmer Valderrama). That '90s Show, meanwhile, pairs Kelso and Jackie as husband and wife after Jackie cheated on Fez and went back to her former love, eventually having a child with Kelso named Jay (Mace Coronel). The move to acknowledge Kelso and Jackie as a married couple on That '90s Show was one Kunis initially disagreed with given how their relationship played out on That '70s Show.

That '90s Show has largely been well-received by fans since its Netflix premiere on Jan. 19. Boasting a 74% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the spinoff sitcom has performed remarkably well compared to other recent revival shows in viewership numbers, including Bel-Air, How I Met Your Father and the recently canceled Gossip Girl reboot. The series premiere generated over 41 million viewing hours within its first four days of availability on the streaming service.

The That '70s Show Sequel Series

Much like its predecessor, That '90s Show is based in Wisconsin, once again starring Kurtwood Smith (Red Forman) and Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty Forman) as the show chronicles their family dynamic, among other things. However, the series mainly follows Red and Kitty's granddaughter, Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), who stays with them for the summer and makes new friends in Point Place as she constantly craves adventure. Topher Grace's Eric Forman appears in a guest role on That '90s Show after being a main character on the original sitcom, while Tommy Chong (Leo) and Laura Prepon (Donna) also return. Danny Masterson, who played Steven Hyde on the original show, was left out of the spinoff series due to his ongoing rape case, with Kutcher recently commenting on his former co-star's situation.

That '70s Show aired on Fox for over 200 episodes between 1998 and 2006, becoming a cult classic and one of the most popular comedies of the 2000s. It helped to jolt the careers of the couple, with Kutcher going on to star on Two and a Half Men, The Ranch and his hit celebrity prank show, Punk'd, while Kunis starred on Family Guy, Robot Chicken and in the thriller movie Black Swan, which won her multiple awards. A previous spinoff series, That '80s Show, aired for 13 episodes in 2002 before Fox dropped it due to underwhelming viewership numbers.
