Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Infinity War is famous for Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet-powered "Snap," which wiped out half of all life in the universe. Like many moments in the film, this snap was adapted from Jim Starlin, George Perez, and Ron Lim's The Infinity Gauntlet series. And while the Snap is the most notable moment from the series that the movie brought to life, it's far from the only one.

In the final moments of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos' quest for the six Infinity Stones leads him to the Avengers' Vision, who has the Mind Stone within his body.

While the Avengers attempted to separate the Mind Stone from Vision's head in order to destroy it, the Scarlet Witch was ultimately forced to destroy it to save the universe, killing the hero she loves in the process. Despite its destruction, Thanos' used to Time Stone to reverse time and bring both Vision and the Stone back before ripping it out of his head, to the abject horror of everyone around.

While the Infinity Gauntlet comic didn't see Thanos taking the Mind Stone from Vision, he kills him in an equally horrific moment of body horror in the comic crossover event.

The inclusion of the Mind Stone as a physical part of Vision's being drove a large part of the plot in Avengers: Infinity War, which made the Vision's death a crushing, crucial moment to the overall plot. However, this ultimately revamped what was an extremely violent, moment from a comic that was filled with even more superhero savagery.

In Starlin, Perez, and Lim's The Infinity Gauntlet #4, Thanos -- which fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in hand -- dispatches Earth's Mightiest Heroes quickly and brutally, maiming and dismembering them by doing things like turning Wolverine's bones to rubber and turning Thor into a glass statue before shattering him.

Like those other moments, Vision's death adds a touch of body horror to the series, and it's possibly the most vicious. During the massive brawl between Earth's heroes and Thanos, Vision tries to sneak up behind Thanos, only to be quickly discovered by the Mad Titan. While Thanos had used the Infinity Stones for the majority of his previous brutal killings, he resorts to raw strength as he plunges his hand into Vision's chest and rips out his inner circuitry.

Since the Vision is an android, the body horror in this scene is simultaneously more graphic and less visceral than the moments that surround it. However, this does not make his death any less brutal, as the sight of his internal parts being ripped out quickly invokes the parallel of organs being ripped from a person's chest.

While Avengers: Infinity War did see Thanos use the Infinity Gauntlet to dismember Drax and Mantis for a moment, the film didn't linger in these moments of body horror like the comic book did. While the death of the MCU Vision wasn't quite as gruesome as this one, the Vision's Infinity War death still packed a powerful emotional punch that gave it as much weight as it's comic book counterpart.
