Comics creator Jim Starlin is known for such cosmic characters as Thanos, Drax the Destroyer and Gamora, and for writing one of Marvel Comics' more iconic events,"Infinity Gauntlet." The long-running assumption is Marvel Studios will adapt that title for its clash between the Mad Titan and Earth's Mightiest Heroes in "Avengers: Infinity War" and its untitled 2019 sequel. After a well-bookmarked copy of "Infinity Gauntlet" was shown last week in a behind-the-scenes look at "Avengers: Infinity War," Starlin suspects that assumption is true as well.

Starlin shared a screencap of the shot on his Facebook page, writing, "Well, from the looks of all those notes sticking out of a copy of the Infinity Gauntlet in this screen shot from The Making of The Avengers: Infinity War, it would appear that Marvel has begun shooting the movie, maybe loosely based on The Infinity Gauntlet. So very cool! Anthony and Joe, I'm ready for my close up any time you are."

Judging from his reaction, Starlin is certainly on board with elements of "Infinity War" appearing on the big screen. Fans can only hope that directors Joe and Anthony Russo take Starlin up on his offer for a cameo appearance.

“Avengers: Infinity War” boasts a sprawling ensemble cast that’s so far confirmed to include such actors as Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Pratt, Jeremy Renner, Benedict Cumberbatch, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin, Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldana, Tom Holland and Pom Klementieff. However, they’re only for starters, as the film draws in most of the key players from all corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The film arrives May 4, 2018, followed by an as-yet-untitled sequel on May 3, 2019.
