When it comes to supervillains in Marvel, Thanos is often a strong candidate as the evil poster boy. He's a great bad guy and very few can surpass him in terms of charisma, intellect, and cunning. In fact, Thanos might have even become more popular than the original DC supervillain whom he was modeled after, Darkseid.

The purple Titan has the MCU to thank for that. However, powerful as Thanos might be, his darker DC counterpart is arguably more inherently (without trinkets) powerful. So instead, it should be more exciting to compare the heroes who fought Darkseid and see how Thanos holds up against them. To make it perfectly balanced (as all things should be), here are five of them Thanos can snap in half and five others that will put more than a smile on his face. We're talking about Thanos with the gauntlet.

10 WONDER WOMAN (CAN DEFEAT)

First on the list is a superheroine who's pretty much the poster girl for DC. Wonder Woman, as her writers admitted, can be as powerful as Superman but does come a bit shy of Superman's omnipotence. Still, she's a better fighter and tactician than the Kryptonian and would no doubt give Thanos a tough and long battle.

At the end of the day, Wonder Woman won't really be able to defeat Thanos wielding an Infinity Gauntlet with the Stones/Gems. He'll just keep tinkering with the laws of the multiverse whenever the headstrong Themysciran starts making progress in their fight. Of course, it's a different story without the gauntlet, as it is with any enemy of Thanos; so throughout the rest of the list, the gauntlet stays on... unless someone can take it off...

9 SUPERMAN (CAN'T DEFEAT)

Speaking of someone who can take off the gauntlet, you don't have to look any further than big daddy blue over here. Superman can move faster than the eye can see and just might stand a chance at removing the gauntlet. Once that happens, it's game over for Thanos.

Now, we know what you're thinking; Thanos can probably foresee that. If that's the case, then we'll be pitting the most powerful version of Thanos against the most powerful version of Superman: Superman Prime/One Million, also known as Golden Superman. He's by far the most powerful comic book superhero ever and the writers just went crazy with him. Even Thanos with the gauntlet might ask for his autograph.

8 GREEN LANTERNS (CAN DEFEAT)

Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and a couple of others (excluding Kyle Rayner); they are the Earth's Green Lanterns and each became associated with the Justice League one way or another. They possess the most powerful weapon in the DC universe though it's still no match for an Infinity Gauntlet.

Thanos will easily be able to do anything he wants with a lone Green Lantern before they could even finish reciting their oath. A squad of all the Earth's Green Lanterns might stand a chance, but that's nothing Thanos hasn't handled before already with the Avengers or the Nova Corps, etc. They might need the whole other 7,000 Green Lanterns to help but even then, Thanos only needs to make a gesture.

7 ION (CAN'T DEFEAT)

Sodam Yat as Ion Green Lantern

Now, we did say that most Green Lanterns don't stand a chance against Thanos, right? Well, Ion is a different and isolated case altogether. He's pretty much Superman and Green Lantern rolled into one smug being. Now, to be clear, Ion is an honorary symbiotic willpower that bonds with the best of the Green Lantern Corps. The most notable one is Sodam Yat, a Daxamite whose planet was colonized by Kryptonians eons before he was born.

As a result, he can pretty much do what his Kryptonian ancestors can, meaning he's on the same level as Superman. For that reason, he'll give Thanos more than a good fight, probably even separate him from the Infinity Gauntlet if the stars align. Another Ion who did defeat Thanos in a crossover is Kyle Rayner. He also deserves to be separated from the rest of his weaker Green Lantern comrades for this reason alone.

6 AQUAMAN (CAN DEFEAT)

Sadly, no matter which version of Aquaman (Momoa or otherwise) goes up against Thanos, the result will stay the same. The King of Atlantis will lose to Thanos even with his whole kingdom to reinforce him. He's a lot less stronger than Superman or Wonder Woman and a less intelligent than Batman.

While he does make for a great all-rounder in the Justice League, Aquaman's lack of specialization starts becoming apparent when facing enemies who are as strong as Superman. If the fight takes place underwater, then the scales (no pun intended) might tip in Aquaman's favor, but Thanos is too crafty for that.

5 THE FLASH (CAN'T DEFEAT)

This might seem like we're scraping the bottom of the barrel for beings who can defeat Thanos, but the Flash has one thing he can use to his advantage against the Mad Titan: his ability to change timelines (or basically time travel). His speed, when cranked to maximum, allows him to move through time which is a reliable and proven method to defeat Thanos... or at least undo what he did.

Anyway, that could be the Flash's plan B. Plan A might involve something like snatching the Infinity Gauntlet out of Thanos' hands before he could think. That shouldn't be a problem for Flash since he's faster than Superman.

4 BATMAN (CAN DEFEAT)

Sadly for us Batman fans, there's really not much Batman alone can do against Thanos... even without the gauntlet. While Batman has come close to defeating Darkseid at one point, such a victory simply required too much suspension of disbelief and some Hollywood-level science.

As it stands, Batman alone is helpless against cosmic level threats, much less against Thanos. Really, the best thing he could do is to ask for the Hellbat armor from the Justice League so he can survive Thanos' physical attacks. Even then, he'll still lose. At times, even Thanos can prove that his intellect is more superior to that of Darkseid's.

3 SPECTRE (CAN'T DEFEAT)

Spectre, despite not being as popular as Superman or Batman, is among the top 10 or even top 5 most powerful beings in DC. He was literally made by DC's resident "god" himself, meaning he's doubtlessly omnipotent and can manifest as god's wrath in any mortal body when needed. The most similar superhero to Spectre in Marvel is Captain Universe-- someone who can also beat Thanos.

As such, it stands within reason that Spectre can reliable defeat Thanos even with the gauntlet. Heck, Thanos will probably even need to gauntlet to be able to last against Spectre. One of Spectre's most useful abilities is inherently knowing events long before they happen. That's hard to trump.

2 MARTIAN MANHUNTER (CAN DEFEAT)

Superman sometimes refers to Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz) as the strongest member of the Justice League but he's probably just being humble. that's because compared to his Kryptonite, Martian Manhunter's weakness to fire is just laughable. It basically cancels out his Kryptonian-like powers with the addition of telepathy (which Thanos is resistant to), shapeshifting, and phasing.

Even Thanos without his gauntlet and with a mere flamethrower can probably send J'onn J'onzz running back to Mars. Besides, Thanos has faced lone godlike alien beings more powerful than Martian Manhunter, such as the Silver Surfer.

1 DR. MANHATTAN (CAN'T DEFEAT)

Dr. Manhattan is one of the relatively new additions to DC's roster and it's a good thing they acquired him. He's pretty much on the same level as Molecule Man in Marvel. Now, numerous Molecule Man vs Thanos with trinkets debates have raged over the years and most of them only end up in stalemates. Still, it's fair to say that Molecule Man is more powerful as he didn't need some accessories.

Now that that's out of the way, what DC did with Dr. Manhattan recently (Doomsday Clock) is just absurdly overpowered. They promoted him so much that he can now reboot a comic book franchise, meaning he can rewrite multiverses. Thanos can snap his fingers as many times as he wants, it won't do anything to Dr. Manhattan.
