The co-creator of Thanos, comic book legend Jim Starlin, has weighed in with his opinion on Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War

With the first reactions to the ensemble film tricking online, the internet is on tenterhooks to see how the eagerly anticipated showdown between the Mad Titan and the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe fares. Tipped for a $200 million opening, Infinity War is the culmination of a decade of Marvel movies.

Starlin, who with Mike Friedrich introduced Thanos in 1973 in Marvel Comics' Iron Man #55, was on hand for Infinity War's premiere, and was prompt to weigh in on Josh Brolin's performance.

Admitting he may seem biased, Starlin offered detailed (but spoiler-free) assessment of Infinity War. Just as Ryan Coogler gave us a complex and emotional villain in Black Panther, Starlin's words promise an equally impressive performance by Josh Brolin as Thanos.

"There are a couple times my chest constricted from what I was seeing, making me want to cry," he wrote on Facebook. "You’ll recognize those instances when you watch the film. Brolin is an incredible Thanos, moving and emoting just as I tried to portray him in the comics."

Thanos has been teased since the post-credits of 2012's The Avengers, with the MCU slowly building toward his big arrival in Infinity War. Everyone expected Infinity War to do well, but to earn such praise from Starlin is a coup for directors Joe and Anthony Russo and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Despite Starlin's complicated relationship with Marvel, he has no ill will toward the brand, Thanos or Infinity War itself.

Awarding the movie "ten out of ten thumbs up,” Starlin is eager to watch it all over again. Alongside glowing early reactions from the likes of Rob Liefeld, Infinity War looks on track to be one of the best superhero movies out there. Still, when Starlin says he likes your movie, is there any greater praise?

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston, and Josh Brolin. The film arrives Friday worldwide.
