The new art team on Image Comics series "Rat Queens" is official, with Tess Fowler and colorist Tamra Bonvillain joining writer Kurtis J. Wiebe on the series as of August's issue #11. Fowler and Bonvillain join the series following the departure of artist Stjepan Sejic, who announced he was leaving the series last week, citing health reasons.

"I am very indebted to Stjepan Sejic for coming to my aid and doing a fantastic job on the two issues he helped us with," Wiebe said in Image's press release. "Looking to the future of 'Rat Queens,' I needed people who understood what the series has become known for, and there was no other team I could imagine doing a better job than Tess and Tamra!"

Sejic joined "Rat Queens" after Roc Upchurch, the series' original artist and co-creator, left the series in November following a domestic abuse arrest.

Fowler has previous "Rat Queens" experience, having drawn the one-shot "Rat Queens Special: Braga," released in January.

"I'm excited to be returning to explore the world of 'Rat Queens' with Kurtis," Fowler said in the press release. "The fact that I'm wading in with Tamra by my side makes the adventure that much sweeter."

Launched in 2013 as part of Image's Shadowline imprint, "Rat Queens" quickly became a fan-favorite series, frequently acclaimed for its positive portrayals of its female main cast. Fowler's debut issue, "Rat Queens" #11, is scheduled for release on Aug. 12.
