Every good slasher film has three main components that make it work -- the slasher, the fighter, and the great showdown between them -- and this is no different in Terrifier 2 with Art the Clown and Sienna. Joining the ranks of the beloved final girls that came before her, Sienna is proven to be a strong match for her slasher. She's one hell of a final girl and arguably the best of this generation.
Who Is Sienna in Terrifier 2?
Terrifier 2 is the terrifying sequel to Terrifier. Both films follow Art the Clown as he terrorizes innocent people. It's not just his scary appearance that frightens people, though it is a substantial part of his character. He's a murderous clown, which is creepy enough without the addition of explicit body-horror-like scenes. Such brutality has caused numerous audience members to get sick or even faint. Despite this bleak setting, Terrifier 2 introduces audiences to a new final girl in the form of Sienna, the film's main character. Sienna may even be the final girl of the franchise.
Terrifier 2 is more than a superficial gore fest, like many body-horror films are, as the film features a more complex story and stronger characters. Sienna's story begins after her father's sudden death. She and her brother, Eric, find themselves directly in the path of Art the Clown. Their journey culminates in an epic battle where Sienna is actually able to stop -- albeit temporarily -- Art the Clown. This raises questions about her character, as Art is seemingly invincible throughout both films.
What Makes Sienna Different From Other Final Girls?
Simply put, Sienna might be just as invincible as Art the Clown. At first glance, she's just a mere human. That is until later on in Terrifier 2 when she seemingly dies, only to be resurrected somehow. This could be a result of her family history. It's strongly alluded to in the modern slasher film that Sienna and Eric weren't just random targets like Art's other victims.
Although not much about this is confirmed, it's hinted throughout Terrifier 2 that Sienna's father is responsible for Art the Clown's heinous existence. Before his death, her dad had visions of Sienna overcoming astounding hardships. His visions also frequently included characters. Sienna's iconic Halloween costume is the physical embodiment of his hero character. Unfortunately for the family, their dad also had visions of an evil clown. This means it's possible that Sienna's family has a bloodline connection to Art the Clown and whatever supernatural force keeps him alive.
Sienna is no Laurie Strode, Sidney Prescott, or Nancy Thompson, but she's definitely gaining traction in the final girl game. This is no surprise, of course, as 2022 has given audiences plenty of amazing horror movies. Perhaps this is good timing, as even the ultimate final girls are bidding farewell to their demons. A third Terrifier film hasn't been officially confirmed, though director Damien Leone is on board with bringing his killer clown back for more terror. So, maybe the rivalry between Sienna and Art the Clown will last a while.
