Celebrating James Cameron's return to the franchise, series mainstay actor Arnold Schwarzenegger confirms that Terminator 6 will being principal photography in June.

Speaking with the fan website TheArnoldFans, the 70-year-old confirmed when he will return to his iconic role. "We are starting to shoot Terminator 6 in June to the middle of October, so I am in that," Schwarzenegger said. "I am looking forward to coming back as the T-800 model. It's gonna be great with Tim Miller as the director, and Jim Cameron is kind of supervising the whole thing.”

Since Schwarzenegger first said "I'll be back" in 1984, the world of Terminator has spawned four sequels of mixed critical and commercial success. With 2015's Terminator Genisys being a box office hit but failing with fans and critics, the franchise's future wasn't looking bright. Paramount Pictures was set to create a sixth movie as a sequel to Genisys, but pulled it from the development slate in 2016. Good news arrived last year that Cameron would regain the rights to Terminator, and produce another movie as a soft reboot.

As Cameron comes back to pick up where he left off in 1991 with Terminator 2: Judgement Day, an all-star cast that includes Linda Hamilton hopes to redeem the series. Set to ignore the events of Jonathan Mostow's Rise of the Machines, McG's Salvation and Alan Taylor's Genisys, the (as yet) untitled movie will carry on the legacy of T2.

With Deadpool's Tim Miller set to direct, Terminator 6 is scheduled to kick-start a new trilogy with wholly new characters if it fares well at the box office. Schwarzenegger has already promised a back-to-basics approach will improve where some of the previous movies have failed.

Opening July 26, 2019, the untitled film will have a writers room that includes David S. Goyer, Dark Angel co-creator Charles Eglee, and Josh Friedman, who served as the showrunner on Fox’s The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
