We really can't say Arnold Schwarzenegger didn't warn us. The classic 1991 sci-fi action film "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" will be back on cinema screens in August, fully converted to 3D by original director James Cameron.

And to get everyone excited all over again, Studio Canal and its distribution partners have released a new trailer for the sequel to Cameron's already-iconic 1984 original.

Starring Schwarzenegger as a reprogrammed T-800-series assassin robot sent back from the future, the film follows the obsolescent machine's desperate attempts to save a teenage John Connor (Edward Furlong) from a more advanced model, the T-1000, played by Robert Patrick.

As the future leader of the human resistance against the Terminators and Skynet, the malevolent AI system bent on wiping out all human life, young John Conner's fate is tied to the very survival of humanity itself, so it's a good thing his mother, played by Linda Hamilton, has been preparing her son for the war to come.

"T2" was a mega-blockbuster hit that quickly raked in more than half a billion dollars worldwide, and is still widely considered among the greatest action movies of all time. Three sequels followed, to diminishing critical and financial success, but if the "Terminator" franchise has taught us anything, it’s that it’s better to focus on the good parts of the past instead of trying to change it.

“T2: 3D” will hit cinemas on Aug. 25.
