Rock band Tenacious D has plans to release its first-ever graphic novel.

Entitled Post-Apocalypto, the project is being put together by band members Jack Black and Kyle Gass. Black will be providing hand-drawn art, while the story itself will be co-written by both Black and Gass. The name Post-Apocalypto actually takes its inspiration from Tenacious D’s pre-existing YouTube series, as well as the band's most recent album, which was released in 2018.

"When we finished this book there was only one publisher we ever really considered," Tenacious D said in a statement. "Fantagraphics has been the shining beacon of creativity in comic books for decades. We are thrilled to release our magnum opus with the undisputed greatest and best comic book publisher in the world. Fantagraphics 4 life."

The graphic novel will tell the story of "The Greatest Band in the World" as they explore a post-apocalyptic world, fighting and surviving against new forms of evil mutants, which were created thanks to the radioactive damage caused by an atomic blast. Naturally, they’ll also be visiting space and the White House in their attempt to save the world across the book’s 180 pages. There are also plans in place for a streamable read-along audiobook version of their adventure that would be voiced by Black and Gass, along with the music of Tenacious D.
