One of the most popular fighting games of all time, "Tekken" has been absent from the comic book world in recent years. That changes in 2017, with Titan Comics announcing a partnership with Bandai Namco to bring the latest incarnation of the franchise, "Tekken 7," to comics.

EXCLUSIVE: Jack Campbell’s Lost Fleet Universe Comes to Comics

The series will follow the adventures of Heihachi Mishima, Yoshimitsu, Nina Williams, Paul Phoenix and other characters from the game. According to Titan, the series' story, while shrouded in mystery for now, will tap into the game's long history in the latest battle to crown the King of the Iron Fist tournament.

The creative team has not been revealed, though Titan promises an announcement "very shortly."

"TEKKEN is one of the most exciting games on the market, and as a lifelong fan, I can't wait to delve more into these characters' thrilling stories!” editor Jessica Burton said in a statement. “The incredible visuals and fighting pace are sure to make a brilliant transition into comics, one we're delighted to be adding to our games line!"

With 42.5 million copies sold to date, "Tekken 7" launched in arcades in 2015 and is scheduled to debut on Playstation 4 and Xbox One game consoles, and Microsoft Windows, in early 2017.

The "Tekken" comic will debut in 2017 from Titan Comics and Bandai Namco.
