WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #117, by Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz, Sophie Campbell, Ronda Pattison and Shawn Lee, on sale now.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have spent the last several weeks on edge since a grown-up Lita returned from the future with a dire warning about their potentially dark destiny. Thankfully they have been able to overcome every challenge that has come their way, including wrangling the overgrown and underdeveloped mutant duo of Tokka and Rahzar. Now that the dust has settled, what exactly to do with these two has become its own problem, but its one that Lita is happy to solve by giving the giant mutants the kind of home they could only ever dream of.

Now that it looks like the Turtles' future has been saved, it is time for the adult Lita to head back to her own era. The time has also come for the Turtles to part ways with Karai and the other Foot Clan warriors that were recuperating in the Splinter Clan Dojo following the helicopter crash caused by Tokka and Rahzar. Michelangelo and Leonardo both speak up about the two giant mutants, determined that they won't allow Karai to take them with her again. The Turtles already know that Karai would only try to raise them as weapons, and despite their towering stature, both are still children. Karai is surprisingly receptive to the idea of letting them go considering the trouble that they have already caused her, but she does wonder what the Turtles would do to keep them under control. Luckily, Lita has the perfect solution, offering to take Tokka and Rahzar into the future with her. Though what that looks like isn't certain, it is still far better than what the duo have grown accustomed to so far.

Even though the giant mutants first appeared in 1991's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, they didn't show up in the IDW series until issue #111 when they were seen being kept in massive cages by Old Hob. When Hob's spies were unable to retrieve the Weasels from the Splinter Clan Dojo, he traded Tokka and Rahzar to Karai in their stead, leading to the helicopter crash that set most of the events of the past six months in motion. The crash wasn't caused by any sort of malice, but rather due to the childlike excitement exuded by the thousand pound toddlers on board.

Once separated from the others, Tokka and Rahzar immediately set out to find Karai, who they regarded as their mother. As concerning as it might be to once again separate them from her now, it doesn't look like they will be too worried about that once the bright and shining future that they are headed towards is revealed.

It appears that the Splinter and Foot Clans have united in the future that Lita is returning to. Not only does this mean that Tokka and Rahzar are going to be living in an era of unprecedented peace, but that they might not be so far away from Karai after all.

For all the brutality and bloodshed that they have seen in their relatively short time in the comics, it's fitting that these two would get a happy ending. This may not end up being the last time that Tokka and Rahzar are seen on the comic book page, but it wouldn't be the worst thing for them if it was.
