Up to four players will be able to choose between Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello and Raphael to take on the Foot Clan and other villains in the streets of New York. The aesthetic is a recreation of the original animated series from 1987.

In addition, Dotemu announced that composer Tee Lopes would be doing the music for Shredder's Revenge, saying, "Last but not least, we're teaming up with @teelopesmusic who will be working on TMNT #ShreddersRevenge OST! COWABUNGA!" Lopes has arranged video game credits for games like Sonic Mania, League of Legends and Streets of Rage 4.

The first trailer for Shredder's Revenge highlighted the retro nature of the game with a cover of the original '87 theme song. It also showed the Heroes in a Half-Shell take on classic antagonists Bebop and Rocksteady.
