WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #122, available now from IDW.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the other mutated citizens of Mutant Town have finally taken their home back from the near-lethal grasp of Old Hob and the Mutanimals. In doing so, they've won themselves their first chance to breathe easy for the first time in a very long time. In spite of how much this monumental achievement is worth celebrating, tensions are still running high for the Splinter Clan. The heroes know all too well that their peace is fragile, even if they don't know exactly what outside threats they need to be worried about. But as it turns out, the most imminent of those threats is a whole lot closer than they suspect, as Lindsey Baker has come back to help Old Hob make things worse than ever before.

While the Turtles and their allies are busy redistributing the stockpiles of supplies that the Mutanimals hoarded to the people who need them, Old Hob has been quietly waiting for his next shot at escaping his current imprisonment. With some help from impressionable young mutants, Hob breaks out and slips away from the Turtles' grasp, even taking the time to grievously injure Raphael on his way out. This display of ferocity doesn't stem from a desperate desire for freedom from his amphibian jailers. Instead, Hob has important work to attend to elsewhere, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #122 by Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz, Sophie Campbell, Jodi Nishijima, Ronda Pattison, Bobby Curnow, and Shawn Lee reveals that he has even got Baker waiting for him on the outside.

First appearing in 2011's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 by Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz and Dan Duncan, Lindsey Baker worked alongside April O'Neil at Stockgen. Lindsey developed the Psychotropic Compound that gave animal mutants their human intellect. This, coupled with the dramatic physical transformations caused by the Mutagen, would lead to the creation of Splinter and the Turtles, as well as Old Hob himself. Following the destruction of Stockgen, Lindsey would find herself face-to-face with Old Hob once more when she was kidnapped by the villainous mutant. Surprisingly, Hob was willing to pay handsomely for Lindsey's help in creating even more mutants.

While she would find a new home lab within Null Corporation for a short while, Lindsey ultimately returned to the Mutanimals in an official capacity, even if she didn't share their more villainous aspirations. For Lindsey, researching the nature of mutants and their transformations, as well as the chance to help them, was always more important than anything else. From the looks of things now, that hasn't changed, although Lindsey certainly has. As she toils away on some sort of synthetic Mutagen compound, Lindsey's now-mutated left hand is perfectly clear. Whether that came as the result of her work with Old Hob or after an accident isn't clear, but Lindsey's allegiances absolutely are. Though the Mutanimals aren't around anymore, Hob is ready to see mutants thrive on a greater scale than ever before with Lindsey's help.

Seeing Lindsey Baker still working with Hob isn't shocking in itself, but it is a little bit surprising to see her relatively unfaszed by the greater goings-on in Mutant Town. Lindsey has never been one to lose focus for long, nor has she ever wavered when it comes to her goals. On top of that, she has stuck by Hob for so long that it's hard to imagine she didn't have some serious input into his current plans.

Considering how much damage Hob has done with Mutagen in the past, the fact that Lindsey is developing more of it for him can't be good. Baker might not be the most intimidating figure in the Turtles' world, but she may very well have just become the most dangerous.
