Teen Wolf: The Movie star Dylan Sprayberry says Hugh Jackman's iconic portrayal of Marvel's Wolverine helped to inform his upcoming reprisal of Liam Dunbar.
During an interview with SFX Magazine, Sprayberry was asked if he took inspiration from any outside source for his return as Liam, a werewolf who is known for his quick temper. "I've listened to a lot of Hugh Jackman interviews," Sprayberry said. "Especially being somebody who is playing half-animal/half-human, Hugh's example of the way he took Wolverine and brought him to life was a big inspiration for me. Seeing the behind-the-scenes of all that stuff with him on set and doing the ADR, it really let me know you have to go all-in. Every time you fight, you are doing the roar. Every time you're roaring, it's a real roar. You're not faking it. I don't care if you lose your voice. I don't care if you can't talk the next day. You're going for it!"
Like Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, Teen Wolf Is Back
Loosely based on the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie of the same name, Teen Wolf premiered on MTV in 2011, running for a total of six seasons through 2017. Sprayberry joined the MTV series as Liam Dunbar in Season 4 before being upgraded to a main cast member for Seasons 5 and 6. Sprayberry is one of many Teen Wolf stars set to return for the fast-approaching revival film, aptly titled Teen Wolf: The Movie, which is slated to premiere on Paramount+ on Thursday, Jan. 26.
In addition to playing Liam on MTV's Teen Wolf, Sprayberry is known for playing a 13-year-old Clark Kent in the 2013 DC film Man of Steel. Coincidentally, Sprayberry isn't the only actor to have portrayed the Last Son of Krypton who will feature in Teen Wolf: The Movie. The Paramount+ film also stars Superman & Lois lead Tyler Hoechlin, who reprises his role as Derek Hale from the MTV series. Additional Teen Wolf stars returning for the movie include Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed, Holland Roden, Colton Haynes, Shelley Hennig, Linden Ashby, Melissa Ponzio and J.R. Bourne.
An official synopsis for Teen Wolf: The Movie reads as follows: "A full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a werewolf like Scott McCall [Posey], no longer a teenager yet still an Alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they've ever faced."
Teen Wolf: The Movie premieres Jan. 26 on Paramount+.
