The Teen Titans have always been a formidable force. Founded in 1964 and created by the team of Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani, the group initially consisted of well known sidekicks such as Aqualad, Robin, and Kid Flash. Over the years it has grown to include well known staples of the group, from Raven to Beast Boy.

Just like any team, this group of teenagers can be a little unstable. While they are fantastic partners, they have inflicted a lot of pain and cruelty on one another. The superhero life is a tough one, full of difficult decisions. Unfortunately for these young heroes, sometimes those choices can do more damage than good.

10 Jason's Jealousy

Jason Todd Tim Drake

There's a lot of debate as to whether Jason Todd should be considered an official member of the Teen Titans. The former Robin has served alongside the team on a few occasions and outside of the comics has been considered a member of the roster.

From the Titans live-action show to the Teen Titans animated series, Todd has been linked to the group repeatedly. However, in issue 29 of the Teen Titans comic by Geoff Johns, Tony S. Daniel, Marlo Alquiza, Jeremy Cox and Phil Balsman, Jason Todd brutally attacked the team after feeling they never accepted him as the real Boy Wonder.

9 Raven Endangers The Team

DC Teen Titans Raven 1

Raven is one of the most powerful heroes on the Teen Titans roster. Debuting in 1980, the character has become mostly known for her work alongside the other teenage supers of the DC Universe. But, her heritage was a dark secret for a long time.

Raven's father is a demon by the name of Trigon. Due to his influence, her powers can sometimes get completely out of control. On numerous occasions the character has put the rest of the team in danger, as she struggles to try and wrestle with her demonic gifts.

8 Government Stooges

Aresenal

One thing that fans forget about Roy Harper is that as Arsenal he once took on the role of leadership for the Teen Titans. His time taking on the top job was one of complete chaos though. Early into their reunion, Arsenal led the team into a partnership with Sarge Steel.

This essentially put this independent group under the control of the US Government. The alliance was a complete disaster and created a rift within the group. The team disbanded pretty quickly, with Arsenal's poor leadership almost damaging the legacy of a once bright group.

7 Starfire's Family Feud

Blackfire and Starfire in a Power Struggle

Familial feuds are part and parcel of the superhero life. Starfire had her own rivalry with her villainous sister; both of whom wanted to claim the throne on their home world. Starfire's departure to Earth brought with her a new threat.

Allowing Blackfire and her brand of destruction anywhere near Earth was dangerous to begin with. Bringing the Teen Titans into this conflict was somewhat worse. Over the years this relationship has been incredibly damaging, with Starfire even betraying the love of Roy Harper to fulfil her family duties.

6 Damian's Reckless Leadership

Damian Wayne Teen Titans

Damian Wayne took on the leadership of the Teen Titans in more recent years, but the young hero has always been a bit too headstrong for his own good. The team repeatedly felt as if he wasn't the right Robin for the job.

He took a step too far though when he removed Wally West from the team. While this wasn't his worst action towards Kid Flash, it was still one that affected the balance of the group. They eventually decided to depose of Wayne and put Starfire in the leadership role.

5 Briefly Killing Kid Flash

Damian Wayne Wally West

Damian Wayne has made some terrible choices in his capacity with the Teen Titans. But during the Lazarus Contract story, created by Christopher Priest, Benjamin Percy, and Dan Abnett, Robin went to the ultimate extreme to try to stop Deathstroke.

In a confusing piece of comic book science, Damian Wayne thought the best way to stop Deathstroke being linked to Wally West was to briefly stop his heart, effectively killing his past self momentarily. This had a long term impact, involving a lack of trust for Wayne as well as ongoing heart problems for Wally thanks to one of the worst events in his career.

4 Jericho's Rampage

Jericho

The son of Slade Wilson, Joseph, was at first not a trusted ally to the Teen Titans. But once they realized they had a common enemy the two parties joined forces, with Jericho eventually becoming a member of the Titans roster.

Years later, after his supposed death, he would find himself trapped in Deathstroke's body. He would soon learn to jump between different vessels and started on a murderous rampage, trying to kill his former friends on multiple occasions thanks to this increasing insanity.

3 Bombshell's Betrayal

A lesser known member of the Teen Titans was a young woman who went by the nickname of Bombshell. The character was a loyal member of the group, but she held a dark secret. During her time with the team, someone amongst their ranks were plotting a betrayal.

It turned out to be Bombshell who was the mole the group searched for; not only was she actually a member of Deathstroke's Titans East group, but she had even tried to frame other members of the Titans for her own terrible actions.

2 Forgetting Kid Eternity

Kid Eternity

There's been a stacked roster of heroes on the Teen Titans across the years. Kid Eternity was one of the many young supers to pass through Titan Tower, although he has a long comic book history, having been created in 1942 in Quality Comics by Otto Binder and Sheldon Moldoff.

The character joined the team for a short amount of time before he disappeared. The Teen Titans assumed he had simply quit and never bothered to look into the matter. It turned out he had been captured, tortured and killed by a robot version of the Calculator, without the team ever knowing, or for that matter seemingly caring.

1 The Team Titans' Murder Mission

DC Team Titans Total Chaos

A possible future for the Teen Titans is that they could become the Team Titans. This was one such timeline which collided with the present day team, as the Team Titans were sent back in time to kill the mother of the evil Lord Chaos.

The mother of that child happened to be Donna Troy. The Teen Titans and the Team Titans eventually settled their difference to face off against the real threat, but the team did try to once kill off a crucial member from their own past. What's worse is this group's leader ended up being Hank Hall in the future, who had his own villainous turn.
