WARNING: The following article contains minor spoilers for Teen Titans Go! to the Movies, in theaters now.

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies is packed with comic book Easter eggs, and more than a few jokes that come at the expense of DC films. However, there's one that almost didn't pass muster with Warner Bros.

The studio initially wanted to cut the "Martha" joke, a dig at the polarizing 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In a scene satirizing that moment, Robin walks past Batman and Superman in battle. They stop when they realize their mothers share the same name, Martha. However, they resume their fight once they realize their fathers have different names. Warner Bros. apparently didn't find that funny.

"They did not care for our Batman v Superman Martha joke,” co-director Aaron Horvath told Entertainment Weekly.

His collaborator Peter Rida Michail added that the scene “was on the chopping block for months." Our executive producer Sam Register was fighting hard for that one," he said, "and right at the end of it they let us keep it."

Now in theaters, Teen Titans Go! to the Movies stars Scott Menville, Khary Payton, Tara Strong, Hynden Walch, Greg Cipes, Will Arnett, Kristen Bell, Nicolas Cage, James Corden, Jimmy Kimmel, Halsey and Lil Yachty.
