Director Peter Michail and the cast of Teen Titans Go! reveal how the series got Justice League director Zack Snyder to cameo in an upcoming episode.

It was revealed during San Diego Comic-Con's "Cartoon Network: Winner Takes" presentation that Snyder will be voicing himself in the episode "365!," the show's 365th episode since it premiered on the network back in April 2013. In an exclusive CBR interview with Michail, Beast Boy voice actor Greg Cipes and Raven voice actor Tara Strong, the director revealed that getting Snyder to appear was easier than one might think.

Upon being asked how Snyder's cameo came about, Cipes responded, "He's a fan of the show, yo." Michail continued, saying, "We reached out and pitched him the idea. He loved it and was actually a fan -- like Greg's saying -- of the show. It was surprisingly very easy. It was, and he was great! It was an incredible experience, and we're honored to have him as a part of the Teen Titans Go! world, for sure."

Who Is Justice League Director Zack Snyder?

Snyder is the director who launched the DC Extended Universe and helmed some of its largest film projects, including Man of Steel (2013) and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). After stepping away from directing the DCEU's Justice League (2017) film due to a personal tragedy, the film was altered from Snyder's original vision during reshoots, causing fans to launch the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign on social media. After two years of the online campaign, Warner Bros. announced in 2020 that the Snyder Cut completing the director's original vision, titled Zack Snyder's Justice League, would release on HBO Max in 2021.

The Snyder Cut Controversy Explained

Just days before Snyder's cameo on Warner Bros. Animation's Teen Titans Go! was announced, the director's name made headlines after a reported WarnerMedia study revealed that 13 percent of accounts that participated in the online #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign were actually fake bots. The report also stated that Snyder threatened to "destroy" Justice League producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg on social media over the film, and derailed Warner Bros.' future plans for Martian Manhunter by including him in his cut of Justice League. Snyder has responded to the report with a post of the Snyder Cut film reel that reads, "If I advance follow me; if I retreat kill me; if I die avenge me."

During another panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee revealed that Warner Bros. and DC Films currently have no plans to continue Snyder's vision for the DCEU's future, something that a sequel #RestoreTheSnyderVerse online fan effort is campaigning for. "I work on the projects that are in development," Lee said. "And so, I think the Snyder Cut was Zack's vision realized, and it was a really satisfying story told, but there's no plans for additional work on that material."

Zack Snyder's Justice League is available to stream now on HBO Max. Teen Titans Go!'s episode featuring a cameo from Snyder will air on Cartoon Network this Fall.
