The following contains spoilers from recent issues of Teen Titans Academy, on sale now from DC Comics.

Despite still being a relatively new character, Dane (also known as Nevermore or Diego) has distinguished himself as an incredibly powerful character in the Teen Titans mythos, keeping up with powerhouses such as Shazam and Black Adam. Jr as they fought through the legions of hell. However, with his demonic lineage being connected to the same entity that spawned the Lord of Hell Neron, it is possible that Dane has yet to uncover the full extent of his powers, which may eventually be capable of rivaling (if not trumping) that of long-time Teen Titans member, Raven.

His early appearances in the Teen Titans Academy series (written by Tim Sheridan) presented Dane as a mostly unassuming student enrolled at the 'Roy Harper Titans Academy' who was being mentored by veteran members of the Titans. However, in the 2021 four-issue Shazam! miniseries (also written by Sheridan), Dane was revealed to be receiving private magic lessons from Raven and could teleport through the circles of hell at a whim. The miniseries also divulged that like his teacher Dane is a half-demon, proclaiming that he is the "son of the overlord" when transforming into Nevermore to combat the demon Sulibak.

In Teen Titans Academy #10 (by Sheridan, Tom Derenick, and Mike Norton), Neron revealed to Nevermore that they were in fact siblings, meaning that Nevermore's real father may be the fallen angel Lucifer Morningstar. If this is the case, it would mean that Nevermore is tied to the Sphere of Gods which is the source of all magic in the DC Universe.

Lucifer Mornigstar is one of the only beings in comics to be able to rival 'The Presence' who appears to be DC's version of God. If Nevermore has inherited the same god-like powers as his father and brother, he could potentially rival some of the most powerful entities in the omniverse, especially if he continues training along the likes of powerful magic users such as Raven and Shazam.

Shazam Neron

Regardless of whether or not Lucifer Morningstar is really Nevermore's father, Dane's sibling relationship to the Lord of Hell is enough to assume that Nevermore's inherited power could rival that of Raven. Neron has long been considered a powerhouse in the DC Universe, managing to kill the galactic despot Mongul with one blow in 1995's Underworld Unleashed #1 (by Mark Waid and Howard Porter) and being one of the many villains selected by Pariah to destroy DC's premier superhero team in Justice League #75 (by Joshua Williamson and Rafa Sandoval).

Nevermore is still a long way from being able to surpase the Teen Titan's most established magic user, but if his demonic legacy is any indication he definitely possesses the potential to do so in the future. However, the character continues to evolve at an amazing rate in Teen Titans Academy, and it may only be a matter of time before the student surpasses the teacher.
