Warning: The following contains spoilers for Green Lantern #5, available now from DC Comics.

Teen Lantern Keli Quintana has matured a great deal since her impulsive days in Young Justice. But the tragic destruction of the central power battery on Oa simultaneously postponed her training and traumatized her. She and Jo Mullein may be the last Green Lanterns with functioning power rings, which makes her incredibly powerful and remarkably dangerous.

In Geoffrey Thorne, Tom Raney, Marco Santucci, Andy MacDonald, Michael Atiyeh and Rob Leigh's Green Lantern #5 she proves just how dangerous she can be by taking down most of the Yellow Lanterns all by herself. After learning that the Guardians of the Universe are all in the process of dying and discovering that Oa was most likely attacked by Sinestro and the Yellow Lanterns in Green Lantern #4, Teen Lantern flies to New Korugar in a fury. Upon arriving, she begins to immediately attack members of the Sinestro Corps, conjuring giant projections of other Lanterns and monsters to lay waste to her opponents. Keli, an untrained teenager with a homemade power gauntlet successfully beats hordes of seasoned soldiers.

She seems unstoppable, punching first and asking questions later. But, for better or worse, a mysterious cloaked Yellow Lantern sneaks up behind her and "tricks her brain into shutting down," putting an end to the fighting. If she had tried to face Teen Lantern head-on, it is likely that she would have met the same fate as the other Yellow Lanterns. Simon Baz arrives on New Korugar prepared to protect Keli, but rather than fighting him, the Yellow Lantern simply scolds him for not training the impetuous young hero and tells them to leave before Sinestro finds them.

Keli's show of strength is as unnerving as it is impressive. The ease with which she dispatched the Sinestro Corps implies that she is even more powerful than anyone had previously imagined and demonstrates that she still has a lot of growing up to do. She is clearly still struggling to process the trauma of the events on Oa and in need of support that Mullein and Baz might be too busy to provide. The Green Lantern Corps is struggling to hold itself together, and Keli's incredible, but uncontrollable power may prove to be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Even experienced Green Lanterns like Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner have been overwhelmed and corrupted by sources of great power, often to the detriment of the corps and the universe. But when they lost control, the corps and the Guardians were around to keep them in check. Sadly, Keli lacks that support network right now, and now that she has confronted the Yellow Lanterns, the Corps's resources will be stretched even thinner. But even if they had more time to devote to training Teen Lantern, she seems unlikely to be receptive to much criticism in her angry and impulsive state of mind.

No child should have to carry the burden of a weapon as powerful as Keli's. The Yellow Lantern who finally subdues her warns Baz that she is a "Nuclear bomb you let off the leash with zero psi training."  At the moment, Teen Lantern is the Green Lantern Corps' greatest asset and biggest liability. Luckily, she seems to trust and respect Simon Baz, who has remained active despite losing his ring's power. Their friendship might be the key to reigning in her immense strength. But, if Teen Lantern can't find some way to control her anger she could be a force of destruction that dwarves whatever destroyed the central power battery.
