DC has provided a look at the version of Raven appearing in Multiversity: Teen Justice, by Ivan Cohen, Danny Lore and Marco Failla.
The cover and solicitation information released for Teen Justice #2 reveals a look at Robbi Rodriguez's cover for the issue. The image shows the various members of Teen Justice and a masculine-presenting version of Raven.
Created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, Rachel Roth/Raven first appeared in 1980's DC Comics Presents #26. The daughter of the demonic Trigon, Raven has a number of powerful abilities. However, her most recognizable is likely her empathy, which gives her the ability to manipulate the emotions of others. Raven is best known for her time as a Teen Titan, and she's appeared in various adaptations of that team's adventures. Teagan Croft plays Raven in the live-action Titans TV series, while Tara Strong has voiced her in many of her animated appearances.
At this time, there are still a lot of mysteries surrounding this new version of Raven, who hails from Earth-11. The plot synopsis for the six-issue Multiversity: Teen Justice series notes Raven has previously refused to join the team. That team also features Jess Chambers, a genderfluid, non-binary version of Flash that may just be the fastest version of the character yet.
The plot synopsis for Teen Justice #2 reads, "The explosive miniseries starring Kid Quick and their allies shifts into even higher gear as Teen Justice investigates the Church of Blood! When efforts to infiltrate the mysterious church backfire, one hero faces a devastating loss! Plus: Supergirl and Robin attract surprising allies when they discover an unexpected mystery, Aquagirl finds herself out of her element (and then some), and an encounter with the Justice Guild threatens the future of Teen Justice!"
Created by Grant Morrison and Emanuela Lupacchino, Earth-11 first appeared in 2015's The Multiversity Guidebook #1. Chambers, for their part, made their debut in a short story in DC's Merry Multiverse #1 called "To Stop the Star-Conqueress!" by Cohen, Eleonora Carlini, Ulises Arreola and Becca Carey. Other members of the gender-swapped team include Aquagirl (Jacqui Hyde), Supergirl (Laurel Kent), Robin (Talia Kane), Donald Troy and Klarienne the Witch Girl.
The first issue of Teen Justice hits shelves on Jun 7. The second follows on July 5 and will feature a variant cover from Stephanie Hans.
