WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Ted Lasso Season 2, Episode 5, "Rainbow," now available on Apple TV+.

As much as Season 2 of Ted Lasso pivots around AFC Richmond's bid for promotion back to the English Premier League, it still focuses on the search for love outside the pitch. Fans have gotten to see Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) and Keeley (Juno Temple) maturing as a couple, while club owner Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) has also decided to chase something special and wholesome away from the grueling football business. However, as Rebecca embarks on a secret romance, the series becomes wildly scandalous as it's implied to be with a very close colleague.

It's none other than Jason Sudeikis' Ted, and the kicker is neither know about it! The latest episode strongly hints at this, as Rebecca glows from her interactions on an anonymous dating app, Bantr. It's Britain's version of Tinder, and Keeley notices Rebecca is always blushing and excited to speak to one user, amid a barrage of sex messages and nude pics from other guys.

This person seems different, which in turn makes Keeley urge Rebecca to let them know she's a woman of power, or "a Boss Bitch!" as Keeley calls her. Rebecca has come a long way, though, so she's playing it coy -- wanting something of substance, not style. Instead she talks about poetry and is brutally honest about wanting to find love, which the guy confirms is also his desire. This is the lightning love Roy gave her advice about, so Rebecca's soaking it all in, crushing hard on the mystery man.

However, as they text about which clubs they like, before they openly admit the truth, the camera cuts from Rebecca in the stands to Ted smiling as he puts his phone away in the locker room tunnel. He's rushing off to the dugout for game-day, leaving fans stunned at the revelation he's the Romeo in question.

It's going to spice things up once word gets out, as they'll definitely want to keep the work relationship professional. The thing is, they've got such good chemistry, and they've helped each other through a lot since he came from America. Ted brings her biscuits everyday, has helped her forget the hatred she holds for ex, and always supports her initiatives. Meanwhile, she helped him with his divorce and even kept him company on his first Christmas away from home.

Ultimately, it's not certain they'll pursue anything because, while they're perfect for each other, club duty may come first. Then there's the added caveat of Ted having a fling with Rebecca's bestie in Season 1, which will surely complicate this game of love. Either way, Ted might be brave enough to juggle things, but a lot will hinge on if Rebecca thinks she deserves a shot at another potential soulmate.

See how the spirit of romance plays out in Season 2 of Ted Lasso, available on Apple TV+.
