Created by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, Ted Lasso premiered in August 2020 on Apple TV+. Jason Sudeikis stars as the eponymous coach in the series after originating the role in several commercials for NBC Sports back in 2013. Besides Sudeikis, Ted Lasso stars Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, Nick Mohammed as Nathan Shelley and Juno Temple as Keeley Jones among others.

Ted Lasso Could Return for a Fourth Season

While Ted Lasso was initially developed with a three-season story arc, the acclaimed comedy series reportedly could return for a fourth season. Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group -- the studio behind Ted Lasso -- recently stated that "fans will be really happy and excited" with how the upcoming third season acts as a series finale. She added that "there’s also a way to crack open a door. If we’re fortunate enough to do more, we can keep on going." Lawrence has stated that he has ideas for future seasons of Ted Lasso, one of which would bring the title character back to America to "coach the professional team that's a block away from Jason's home in real life."

Fans Shouldn't Expect Ted Lasso Spinoffs

If Ted Lasso does end with its current season, it will likely be the last time fans see the show's fan-favorite characters. Dungey has stated that they have no interest in developing spinoffs of Ted Lasso unless a really good idea comes along. "When you think of Ted Lasso, you obviously think of that unforgettable character. When you think of Night Court, you think of John Laroquette, and when you think of The Big Bang Theory, you think of Sheldon," Dungey explained. "Young Sheldon is a perfect example of being able to create a spinoff of a universe that actually does work because you have a character at the center and a different way of looking at that universe than what was there before. But I do think that when you're doing a spinoff for a spinoff's sake, that’s usually where you fall into some problems."

Ted Lasso Season 3, Episode 3, "4-5-1," premieres on Apple TV+ on March 29.
