Apple TV+ has scored its biggest audience for an original series or film with the Season 2 premiere of Ted Lasso.

According to VarietyTed Lasso's Season 2 premiere set a record for the streamer when it comes to active accounts that tuned in to watch Jason Sudeikis as the titular soccer coach. The viewership accounts for the episode's debut on July 23, along with its opening weekend through July 25. If you're waiting to hear how many subscribers actually viewed the premiere, then you're out of luck. Apple TV+ has not released those numbers, and has also not given data regarding how many subscribers it has in total.

However, Apple TV+ has shared that Ted Lasso "increased its viewership by 6x over season one," with the service reportedly gaining 50% new viewers week to week, which sets a new record. Apple has also said Ted Lasso Season 2 "lift viewership and engagement" for its freshman season, along with bringing more viewers to other comedies like Schmigadoon, Physical and Mythic Quest during the July 23-25 weekend.

Jason Sudeikis stars as Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach hired to lead a professional English soccer team. Even though he has no experience, Lasso manages to win over the team with his enthusiasm and winning attitude.

Season 2 of Ted Lasso is now streaming on Apple TV+, with new episodes premiering every Friday.
