With Hugh Jackman's days as Wolverine numbered, it looks as if Fox is betting it all on Channing Tatum's upcoming turn as "Gambit." The studio will most likely want a new marquee hero, and Deadpool -- whose face is always hidden by horrible scars or a mask and comes with a restricted rating -- might not Jackman's shoes as well as an unmasked Channing Tatum playing a pink-wearin', card-throwin' Cajun scoundrel. With its late 2016 release date, new information has popped up online [h/t to ComicBook.com and Collider] that gives an insight into what Fox has in mind for the Ragin' Cajun.

The Louisiana Economic Development's website Fast Lane has a rundown of the shape and scope of "Gambit's" production, noting that the film will begin production in Remy LeBeau's home state on October 13, 2015 and run through to February 12, 2016. Even more notable -- and possibly telling -- is the film's budget: $154,975,309. For a film starring an untested character, and one that's the first in a possible series, that's a pretty big budget. For comparison, 2013's "The Wolverine," the character's second solo film, only had a budget of $120 million. According to the form, $30 million of "Gambit's" budget will go to Louisiana employees.

Additionally, Showbiz411 has gotten hold of what could be a casting sheet for the film, revealing that the movie will feature a lot of criminal types -- and no recognizable characters from the comics, at least not yet.
