Taron Egerton, star of the Kingsman movies, said he would love to have Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson board the third chapter in Matthew Vaughn's widely-acclaimed franchise. With Kingsman: The Golden Circle making waves at present, Vaughn has made it no secret he wants a third movie, as well as spin-offs, and Egerton has gone on record as wanting Johnson as the villain in their next film.
"I know who the character is and it's nothing like this actor, but I love Dwayne Johnson," Egerton told The Hollywood Reporter regarding the villain Vaughn had in mind. "I think he's [Johnson] the right fit for it, but the villain role Matthew has described to me is not Dwayne Johnson."
Even if this means some refining of the role needs to be done, Egerton shouldn't have too much to worry about as The Rock is one of Hollywood's most versatile actors. From comedies like the upcoming Jumanji sequel to action franchises such as G.I. Joe and, of course, Fast and Furious, Johnson has proven he has the range Vaughn would require for his tongue-in-cheek take on the spy genre. It also wouldn't be his first comic book role if he signs up, as he's already slated to play Black Adam in the DC Extended Universe.
Currently in theaters, Kingsman: The Golden Circle is directed by Matthew Vaughn and stars returning cast members Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Sophie Cookson, joined by newcomers Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges.
