Josie and The Pussycats co-star Tara Reid recently put out the call for a sequel to the 2001 musical comedy.

The actor recently tweeted about her role as Melody in the cult-classic film. "[It was] the ultimate role," she posted. "I loved playing Melody," tagging co-stars Rachel Leigh Cook and Rosario Dawson, as well as Archie Comics, Riverdale and Netflix.

Reid ended the post with, "Netflix needs this." The tweet also included a TikTok clip of the band performing its iconic song from the film, "Spin Around." Reid spoke over the video, saying, "That is probably one of the biggest cult films, ever. Melody was my favorite character. It would be awesome if we all could really do it again."

Josie and the Pussycats is based on the Archie Comics title of the same name and heavily inspired by the Hanna-Barbera animated series that ran from 1970-1972.

The film adaptation starred Reid as drummer/backup singer Melody Valentine, Dawson as bassist/backup singer Valerie Brown and Cook as lead singer/songwriter/guitarist Josie McCoy. The film blended comedy with social commentary about the music industry's treatment of performers. The plot centers around Josie's group replacing a boy band, DuJour, presumed dead from a plane crash. The Pussycats enjoy meteoric success but learn it was due to market manipulation behind the scenes

The writer/director team of the film, Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont, revealed in April that they once proposed a spinoff featuring DuJour, but it went nowhere. Recently, Josie and The Pussycats' characters were incorporated into The CW's Riverdale.

Riverdale stars K.J. Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Mark Consuelos as Hiram Lodge, Charles Melton as Reggie Mantle, Vanessa Morgan as Toni Topaz, Mädchen Amick as Alice Cooper and Erinn Westbrook as Tabitha Tate. The series returns for Season 5 on Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
