The COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic has seen several pop culture conventions either change their target dates or be canceled entirely. However, the Tampa Bay Comic Convention intends to keep its release date.

The convention released an official statement on its Facebook page saying that this year's event will take place on its original dates of July 10-12. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, certain measures will be enacted to try to promote proper health and social distancing. "After nearly two months of agonizing uncertainty, we have received confirmation from the Tampa Convention Center and Tampa Fire Marshal that TBCC 2020 will move forward with numerous health measures enacted by the venue and various levels of government, to keep attendees, exhibitors, guests, and staff as safe as possible," a statement read.

Mandatory temperature screenings will be conducted for all occupants entering and leaving the Tampa Convention Center. Hand sanitizing stations will be set around the center and increased cleaning and disinfection procedures will be implemented in high-traffic areas, such as elevators, handrails, benches, tables, handles and restrooms. In addition, interior occupancy of the exhibit hall, ballrooms and meeting rooms will be strictly limited, with one-way entrances and exits.

Tampa Bay Comic Convention is one of the few conventions still taking place on its intended dates. Emerald City Comic Con was moved to late August, while WonderCon and Comic-Con International: San Diego were canceled entirely for 2020.
