Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi will join Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds on the cast of Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy's action-comedy Free Guy.

The film stars Reynolds as Guy, a bank teller who discovers he is actually a player inside a video game and fights desperately to stop the game's creators from destroying his world. Known for What We Do in the ShadowsThor: Ragnarok and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Waititi will play the owner of the company who created the game; this likely puts him in direct opposition to Guy and his goal. The cast also includes Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Joe Keery (Stranger Things) and Lil Rey Howery (Get Out).

Free Guy is just a drop in the bucket for the New Zealander's growing list of upcoming projects. He recently wrapped work on the new Star Wars series The Mandalorian, for which he directed one episode and leant his voice-over talents. Recently, he announced he will executive produce Apple's adaptation of Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits as well as co-write and direct the pilot. Currently, he's in post-production on his WWII dramedy Jojo Rabbit, while his television adaptation of What We Do in the Shadows debuted on FX earlier this week.

Free Guy, directed by Levy and written by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2020.
