Summary
Based on the novel of the same name, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a film by director Milos Forman starring Jack Nicholson. Nicholson plays Randle McMurphy, a man imprisoned on an Oregon work farm for statutory rape charges. To avoid hard labor, he pretends to be mentally insane and is sent to an asylum that turns out to be even worse than he could have imagined, thanks to the cold-hearted nurse Mildred Ratched (Louise Fletcher.) As McMurphy sees Ratched taking away humanity from other patients, he begins to rebel. He tries to help the other patients find themselves and feel alive - going as far as stealing a school bus to take them all fishing on the coast. McMurphy's battle against Ratched intensifies, leading to the decision to escape with a new friend, "Chief" Bromden (Will Sampson.) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a drama film released in 1971 and was the second film to win the five highest Academy Awards honors, including Best Picture, Actor, and Actress.
